1. you can get on the web where there is a wireless network available. Some wireless network don't require a password, some do. Public wifi spots usually don't need a password, then you can use them to connect to the internet. If you have a wireless router at home, you can also connect your itouch to it.

2. It's free. If you choose to pay for hot wifi spot, that's a different story.

3. You check whether that are wireless network by tap the "settings" icon on your itouch, there you see all available networks. If you see a lock, it means it is security-enabled. You might need a password to access it (or it could exclude you from joining by specify only certain MAC addresses).

If you see a free wifi, just tap it, the itouch will connect. Then you can click the home button, open Safari browser, if the wifi is available, you can browse the internet in no time.

If you are in transit, you might lose a wireless network as you are moving.
