Quiz Formats

Shared iPod Quiz (iQuiz) games on iquizshare.com come in three formats:

  • Flat file format (e.g. history_albert.txt).
  • Zipped package, which contains readme, trivia.txt, and maybe some customized artworks in .tga format.
  • QuizPack format, which is created using Aspyr Media iquizmaker software .

Installation of iPod Quiz in quizPack format

For .quizPack format iPod Quizzes (iQuizzes) (let's just use history.quizPack as an example), you will have to get iquizmaker from
Aspyr Media
to install them. After downloading and installation of iquizmaker (PC or Mac version, depending on you machine model).
Just open history.quizPack using iquizmaker. Then close it. During this process, iquizmaker actually creates a folder under iPod
Game directory and puts a trivia.txt file in there. It will also puts all artworks in the same folder if there is any:

PC: C:\Documents and Settings\your_username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iPod Games\
iQuiz 1.0\History\trivia.txt
Mac: /Users/your_username/Music/iPod Games/iQuiz 1.0/History/trivia.txt)
(or, on new ipod nano, /Users/your_username/Music/iPod Games/iPod Quiz/History/trivia.txt)

The next thing you need to do is just to connect your iPod Classic, iPod video, or 3G iPod Nano, and sync. The game will
appear in the
corresponding group on your iPod (specified by GROUP tag in the trivia.txt file)

Installation of iPod Quiz in flat file format

For .txt files, e.g. history_albert.txt (history quiz shared by albert), please follow these three easy steps:

  1. Rename it as trivia.txt.
  2. Create the corresponding game folder, i.e. History, and copy trivia.txt into the folder, the final directory structures
    are like the following:
    PC: C:\Documents and Settings\your_username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iPod Games\iQuiz 1.0
    \History\trivia.txt
    Mac: /Users/your_username/Music/iPod Games/iQuiz 1.0/History/trivia.txt
(or, on new ipod nano, /Users/your_username/Music/iPod Games/iPod Quiz/History/trivia.txt)
  3. Connect your iPod Classic, iPod video, or 3G iPod Nano, and sync. The game will appear in the corresponding
group on your iPod (specified by GROUP tag in the trivia.txt file)

Installation of iPod Quiz in zipped file format

The zipped file usually contains a trivia.txt file, maybe some artworks, and maybe a readme file, you can install them following
the steps below.
  1. Unpack the zip file. You will see a readme file and a folder with the game name (e.g. History).
  2. Find the iQuiz 1.0 folder (or iPod Quiz folder) inside iPod Games directory and copy the game folder (e.g. History)
inside the folder (see the picture below, note, this folder could be called differently, e.g. "iPod Quiz" for the new ipod
classic and ipod nano).  On Mac OS X, the iTunes folder is stored in
/Users/username/Music or /Users/username/Documents. On Microsoft Windows, the iTunes folder is stored in
\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\. Again, the folder structure looks like the following:
    PC: C:\Documents and Settings\your_username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iPod Games\
    iQuiz 1.0\History\trivia.txt
    Mac: /Users/your_username/Music/iPod Games/iQuiz 1.0/History/trivia.txt)
(or, on new ipod nano, /Users/your_username/Music/iPod Games/iPod Quiz/History/trivia.txt)
  3. Connect your iPod and open your iTunes, then sync your iPod. The sync operation will add new game to iQuiz on your iPod
    automatically.
  4. The game will now appear in the corresponding group on your iPod (specified by GROUP tag in the trivia.txt file).

If you have ipod video (i.e. the old iPod Classic), you have to buy the iQuiz game in order to see the iQuiz folder being created.
However, iquiz is freely available on the new models of iPod Classic and 3rd Generation iPod Nano. It is now called "iPod Quiz"
